Investments do rise and do fall in value and we strongly advise that professional advice is taken before investing your money
On the 12th March this year in my blog, ten days from the bottom of the market, I highlighted the importance of maintaining your portfolio strategy despite the 'noise' that was coming from the media and alike.
The recovery in values we have seen since then has been the fastest that I have experienced in my career and goes to show that a big part of investing is being able to hold your nerve and not give in to emotions which can ultimately lead to regret. I have heard of people crystallising loses at or near the bottom based on their emotive response and even some advisers moving client portfolios to cash at precisely the wrong time. The point here is that experience is valuable and knowing how to deal with difficult situations is sometimes easily learnt but hard to put into practice. For the record, we have entered a new bull market after the last business cycle came to an abrupt close and therefore I suggest you should be checking your asset allocation and investment themes. Are you positioned correctly to benefit from where future returns are likely to be achieved? If you would like to talk about your portfolio, now may be a good time. Leave a Reply. |
